Handcrafted by world-renowned master artisan Mr. Sabun Kubo, the Matsu Kaze Chikumeido Chasen – Shin Kazuho in Black Bamboo is a rare tool shaped by 24 generations of chasen makers. Designated by the Japanese government in 1987 for his artistry, Mr. Kubo continues to create whisks that embody centuries of tea ceremony tradition.
This distinctive whisk is made from local black bamboo (kurodake) sourced in Nara Prefecture, naturally dried for two years. Black bamboo’s softer, more flexible fibers help protect against cracking, while its high density makes carving especially challenging—resulting in a whisk that is both durable and beautiful.
